Question Pump Shoe Fins on RXP - What do they do?

I was wondering if anyone knew what the purpose it of the fins inside the pump shoe?
I have a 2005 RXP that these were mostly sheered of (Rocks I suppose) what affect will this have on the ski?

    Thanks

Broken fins will cause cavitation. Grind them all off and you will be fine... Ron

Thanks for all of the replies, I did grind them of before I installed the new prop and wear ring. I was thinking maybe it kept the water a bit smoother through the prop and the pump. Hopefully if the weather holds up this week, i will take it to the lake, just waiting for a couple more parts. I put new props and wear rings in both ski's, I took the other one out yesterday, it hooked up hard.

    Thanks

All the reading I've done is if you have a broken one grind them all... if not just leave them unless you're really bored... !
