    broken timming chain question

Yep today was a sad day I broke the timming on my GPRXP

SO my question is if I remove the rocker arms and my leak down is good is it possible that the valves are still good? Or should I just pull the head and have the valves replaced anyway?

yep but you have to be sure and removed the head to see the valves.

I was cruzin along at about 5000 rms and the ski shut off

The chain looks like a link just pulled apart I will post a picture after dinner

Whats the general cost for a complete head rebuildwith new valves?

In that case the head needs to come off for inspection.

Cant change the chain without splitting the cases and lifting the crank. I know they are different but I say this any way to illustrate the problem here. I had a water pump shaft break on an engine The valves hit the pistons. I replaced the pump and timing belt and because I was out of the country and it takes weeks to get parts I put it together and it ran perfect no misfire or noise so I thought it was ok. I went on and 30 hours later it dropped a valve and I got to sail home and put another engine in the Boat. You can fix it half assed and have it break mid summer next year or do it correctly this time. Tear it down and replace all the valves (weakest spot on a 4Tec) new rings and Chain. Its going to cost but not as much as it would if it broke a valve

Does anyone know if the 3 bolt holes on the side of the block near the starter could be used to put the motor on a car motor engine stand? if not then where?

Just went through the same thing with my ski except I was at 8K+ when mine went. Most your valves will be bent. I think all mine were except for two intake valves. All my pistons were fine, just minor nicks where the valves touched. Since I had just bought my ski, the dealer offered to pay for labor while I had to buy the parts. Total parts for my rebuild was 1400 and that included all new engine bearings, valves and head work, gaskets, timing chain, guides, sprocket, and tensioner.
