2 stroke oil questions..What brand do you use?

I have a 1200XLT. When the low oil level warning comes on...how much ride time do I have?

The other question is what brand of oil do you guys use? I had this warning come on yesterday and could not find the Yamalube anywhere so I got a 2 cycle Penzoil Premium Marine synthetic....Can I use that? Otherwise it's too late cuz I already did.

Or do you only use the Yamalube?

Man, your going to start it now. Oil discussions are almost as bad as the middle east discussions. All BS aside, Penzoil may do the job, but I don't know the long term effects. In my opinion, run the Yamalube of Amsoil Interceptor. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ait.aspx
I rebuild a GPR and have been running Amsoil in the ski since day one and with 25 hours, the powervalves are spotless. I know that Klotz is good and Mobil has a race inspired formula that some swear by too.

The Yamalube oil has rust inhibitor in it to keep the crank bearings from rusting along with some other parts. Just my 2 cents. Yamaha made it for a reason. Other brands may have a similar mixture.

By all means, if you like another brand, then stick with it.

Thanks for the info. I have always used the yamalube, it's just that I cound not find it when I needed it therefore I went with the Penzoil. I think I might just stick with the Yamalube.

I've got 100 hours on the first Lowell-built ported 1300. Sunk the ski once, and all 100 hours are WOT tuning and testing. The engine is spotless, runs great, and holds perfect compression. I use Amsoil Dominator 2000.
