    700 CDI and Coils

I scored the updated stator on flea bay for $81 dollars so my Hurricane may just run again someday. I'd like to find a new style CDI and coil by May 2010. I'm looking for super cheap parts as this is my low budget build. Picked the cane up with a trailer for $300 a couple years back and only rode it a hand full of times. I know I read it but why won't the old coils work? ARGH! Damn these Polaris electrical Gremlins.

...why won't the old coils work [with an new style CDI]?...
The new style (Ignition Update kit and 2000+ model years) coil for the two cylinder domestic engines is a single ignition coil that fires both spark plugs together, every time. It has two primary wires that go directly to the CDI.

The original old style coil pack had two separate coils, and the old CDI fired them individually.

The update kit for the three cylinder engines does re-use the original ignition coils.

Anybody know how the Sea-doo, Yamaha, and Kawasaki twins are wired? We are gonna run out of parts eventually

That would take some research, since a non-Polaris coil would need to be fairly close in both resistance and inductance, and coil turns ratio

It would need to still fit inside the electrical box.

I wonder if the Polaris snowmobile twin or possibly ATV coils might work?

I've seen some snowmobile coils on E-bay,that have just the 2 primary wires, they seem to be as expensive as the PWC coils,I have not been able to get a cheap set to test-the used ones all sell for good money,I wonder how dependable they are .

Argh! I did an advanced search and it looks like the guy I got the stator from sold the entire electric box with the coil and CDI about a month ago for $105. How did I miss that. Son OF B.........
