Three Blade 14/19 SKAT TRAK impeller feedback

This morning I put a 14/19 SKAT TRAK 3 BLADE on my STOCK 06 RXP. I originally got impeller to use with my BKIT but since it isn't here yet thought I would try it on completely stock 06 RXP.

Water temp was 91 degrees with very slight ripples . With the STOCK 14/19 impeller , ski was running 67.5 at 8100 RPM (in 87 degree water). With the 3 blade SKAT TRAK impeller the stock RXP would pull only to about 7500 RPM and speed was 64.6. So because it was hotter today I calculate the impeller reduced the RPMS by about 500 since I could probably COULD pull to 7600 with the SKAT TRAK IF water temp was 86-87.

My conclusion is that if you had enough power you could probably FLY with the 14/19 SKAT TRAK and also stay off the REV Limter. With the BKIT I think the ski should run about 8400 but with the SKAT TRAK 3 blade that probably will mean 80+ MPH without putting ALOT of strain on the valve train. I will know for sure within a week or so when I hopefully get my BKIT in.

Keep in mind that you will not turn 8400 RPM's with a stock ECU.

I tried the 15/20 this past weekend against my 14/19 3 blade and have come to the conclusion that I do not like the 15/20.

It will not hook up on the bottom at all and will only run 71-72 MPH @8100 RPM's.

The 3 blade pulls way better and runs 72-73 MPH @ 8100 RPM's.

I just can't seem to find the last couple of MPH out of my Stage II but figure I may add a little more pitch to see if the speeds come up any using the 14/19.

3 blade vs. 4 the 3 blade wins hands down so far.

David, that is really odd. Something must be astray with your setup.

Im running 77+ on Careys RXP with the 15/20 at 8100 RPM's. (some pitch has been added to the trailing edge) There is also no cavitation out of the hole.

Jerry I am open to suggestions, where would you start to look?

This boat has never seen over 74.5.

I thought about that but figured if anything that it was running a little lean and therefor figured it would be a little faster, but a tad bit unsafe AFR.

It seems that I have been chasing speed since I got this thing. It has always been a little slower than the others.

Either using the RR IC or the Riva??

Going back to the start the only thing in common to the set up is the IC block off plate, and removing the intake.

I wonder if it is possible to have a small leak at either place that could be costing me 2+ MPH???

Some hulls are faster than others. There are many variable that cause this. A couple worth mentioning are rideplate angle and pump shoe angle.

Whats the attitude of your ski? Does it porpoise at all like most all RXP's do? If not then you can bet that your rideplate is lower in the back than other RXP's. This will scrub speed. Also, if the ridplate is lower in the back then it throws off the angle of the grate where it attaches against the rideplate

Im afraid that to find your "lost" speed you need to start playing around with rideplate angle. Talk to JD 1 about pump shoe angle. He once had a ski where it was severly off costing him lots of speed.

since you guys are talking props:
I maxed out at 69.1 - 69.2 with ideal conditions, but have yet to reproduce that speed last several times I was out. RPM`s are there, 8100, but current and wind and water condition were not the same. So last few speeds were 67.8
I am currently using the skat 3 blade 16\21 swirl in the 155 pump in the GTX? Is this it? or is there another prop out there to gain something?...PR...
