    Cracking on 97 GP hulls

    Hey guys,

What's up with the cracking I have heard a bit about this on the 97 and have a couple questions.

    (1) Were there any specific areas that were prone to cracking or just pot luck

    (2) If so what were the areas?

Looking at reinforcing these areas and since I have a bare hull would love to do it now Please anyone that was unfortunate enough to experience this please share plus info, stock/modded etc, pump used really want to work out if this was just the poor design by Yami or only happened on modded skis. Either way I'll be reinforcing so would love to know.

    Cool

they would crack between motor mount (a stainless u- shape cap was installed for that fix)
and up front bow would crack ( they made 4 panels that bounded to front and had inserts running down to front of motor mounts tieing everything together

    later cd

Thanks chip I know the panels your talking about I was looking at those anyway and thinkin damn!

Mike that would have been said a million times back in 05! It's no secret I have a bare hull and have a few different options of picking up 4tecs so.........

To all I have had amazing feedback and support so far and please do not mistake my intentions and comment about top speed etc this will NOT be a top speed queen or anything like that just a fun ski to promote my business and have a blast on She might not get above 75 but damn will she get there fast!

I will be starting a new build thread soon

Thanks Mike! That's what I keep thinkin when I get a mental picture of the finished result. She will only be stock 215 (yeah right for how long ) as at this stage it does not look as though I will be able to run external IC but will start at a base and as said will not be about top speed at all so I think 215 should do the job.

Mike I sincerly appreciate your concern but you know me and aside from the fact I have two boys to think about taking unecessary risks is not something I would do. I know this ski will be very dangerous in the wrong hands and will need every ounce of respect it deserves in order to stay safe. BTW when I rode Adams ski (Akayz) I was round the high 70's and didn't really feel comfortable so dialed it down.

About the parts bro did you mean specific aftermarket? Very hard to find a/market gear, there's a guy in the states that makes alum copies of the Riva tabs, keep an eye out for sponsons etc

My 97 had no chips or cracking. I believe this happened to the first few hundred 97 hulls

The GP uses a seperate intake duct which takes the main force of tunnel pressure and this duct sits below the outer glass of the tunnel so would'nt see the need for the usual GPR tunnel reinforcement but will be paying attention to a few particluar areas anyway

Thanks Pat eases my mind somewhat but will be reinforcing where necessary in case. My luck lately mine would be number 001!
