Hey Jim. I use Amsoil Marine 10W-40. From what I hear, this is THE BEST oil for anything from 2-stokes to air compressors.

PM MJH3hides (sp) about his over heating deal--its impressive and he was running this oil.

i use the yamaha oil... easiest for me to get... and if ever an engine failure, they cant blame the oil!

do the same for my diesel... use motorcraft from walmart... $33 in oil and get motorcraft filters from a ford buddy... cheaper than what my dodge dakota was using synthetic

and yeah i know they would be hard pressed to prove a certain oil caused engine failure... but like i said... it's the easiest for me... get oil and the filter at the same place

Perfect timing...I'm about to change my oil for the first time in my FZS and figured i'd give the site a look to see what the general feeling was for oils. Probably just stick with the Yamalube for now. As far as extracting the old oil i know RIVA has the "oil buddy" but are there any other brands/manufactures out there that make a similiar product? Anything cheaper..better...how 'bout something with a dual purpose that can remove fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid? Any insight appreciated...

I know you probably saw the oil boy on Riva's site but it's also available in this forums online store if you decide to purchase one

I have seen and used other brands but love my oil boy. It works better than anything i have ever used.

Not sure if you would want to use one of these devices for transferring fuel, etc. as these are pretty slow at moving fluid. They work great at sucking oil from your engine though. I have also used them to suck out fluid from an automatic transmission in a car. Works great for that!
