    Skat Trac Drive Shaft Seal

Now that the RAD4 driveshaft dilema has been resolved or has it? I was wondering about everyone's experience with the Skat Trac driveshaft seal? Personally, about 20 hours of hard riding, making the mistake of greasing before riding, which I will change immediately to after riding since observing everyones comments/recommendations on the RAD4 seals. Zero problems as of yet

Both seals appear to be very similiar in design, but could the difference be seals/bearings?

Louis had a lot of good recommendations about these seals. Maybe someone should post in the how to section on installation and maintenance of these seals.

Id like to know more about this seal honestly. I admit that I know nothing about it.

Does it require constant greasing, upkeep and monitoring like the RAD4?

What materials is it made of?

This is seriously beating a dead horse now. Do a search. Grease immediately after every ride with a quality marine grease. 2 pumps is all you need. I went with the skat over the rad4 because it does not require the driveshaft to be machined unless it is rusted or pitted.

I have the skat seal and it has held up fine. I sunk my ski with it once because the clamp in holding the bearing carrier in the coupler slid off. Pump pressure at 70mph then popped the bearing carrier out of the coupler and water came rushing in. I cleaned out the bearing, regreased it, did a better job of installing the clamp and have put a few hours on it since without issue. The bearing itself is working great for me. Again I grease it immediately after every ride and have not had a problem. I will be installing 2 500gph pumps just incase anything should go wrong in the future as it has been pointed out by forum member aha that 2 500gph pumps can keep up should the seal fail in his experience.

Yes. Grease immediately after every ride with 2 pumps. They are all the same.

All these seals are basically the same and have been in use for years! They are nothing new.

If you don't grease after every ride you will have problems.
