    NFL gone soft?

Ok now some of you may think that i'm just crying about sundays game between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots because i am after all a Ravens fan. BUT.... Why does it seem now that there's players and then quaterbacks? During sundays game the baltimore Ravens were cited on two roughing the passer penalties where Terrell Suggs and Haloti Ngata made very slight contact with Tom Brady(who was seen laughing about it afterwards). Those penalties were responsible for 14 points of the patriots score. Nevermind that regardless of the outcome Mark Clayton dropped what was a critical 4th and 4 conversion. Joe Flacco of the Ravens was hit and in some cases laid out by the patriots at least 6 times only garnering one roughing the passer call (it could have been illegal contact i'm not sure). The real question is here, has the NFL gone too soft? I like seeing QBs like Ben Rothlisberger who can shed tackles and still make plays. The game keeps going. Men play ball. Playmakers make plays. Pass interference calls are getting crazy too. Calls are being scrutinized less afterwards as well. I could care less if the game drags on longer as long as the calls are fair and consistent. Refs are human, they makes mistakes! Just make them right. When thanks to high def and big screen tvs we can watch at home and see BS calls clear as day. Recievers don't get the protection that QBs do and they are subjected to much more violent hits and don't complain. Why is it that the players agree with much of this? Is the NFL getting too far away from football and more towards comercialism and money? I just want to see talented men play good football every week in a fair clean contest. Not the coddling of grown rich men. Is that too much to ask?

But at the same time you don't see QBs like Manning, Rothlisberger, Flacco, etc getting pissy and yelling when they get sacked. Tom Brady is in a league of his own. When he got hit he turned to the refs and threw his arms up. Other QBs say hey i waited too long and my boys couldn't keep them off me anymore. There's too much BS and less football.

Saw the highlights after the game, it does look like what one commentator said about Brady, is that the refs are giving him special treatment, alot like the NBA did with Michael Jordan.

This is just my opinion but the problem is that if they dont call a penalty on someone going low on a QB, teams will target QBs and take them out by hitting them low and twisting their knee and etc to try and sideline them for the season.
Everyone saw what happened to the Pats last year without Tom Brady- so its obvious what a difference a good QB makes on a team.
I think its to eliminate this from happening. They have to be super strict so that QBs are protected.
Now, having said that- there are still going to be silly calls. For example, when a player's momentum carries him into the QB, which I think was the case on Sunday, and calling it anyhow. Thats not a 'hit', thats incidental contact. That should not be called.

I dont think Tom Brady is a 'pussy'. The guy had his knee wrenched apart and then surgically repaired. Id be scared of taking a hit too. Who wouldnt be? Come on now guys.

Admittely, Im a Pats fan but still. This is just common sense. I dont think its fair to call the guy a "pussy".
Besides, If being a pussy gets you dates with supermodels, 3 superbowl rings, tons of endorsements, and an Aston Martin, where do I sign up???

they have to. thats my point. If you sideline a Michael Jordan, a Tom Brady, etc, you greatly reduce that teams chance of winning the game. If the stars of the league arent protected, people will try to take them out. They are marked men.

Teams like Baltimore can still beat you with their running game and defense they arent as dependent on the QB as the Patriots, Colts, Saints, etc. Those are pass heavy teams.

I'm a Pats fan also. I think a lot of people bitch about Pats cause they are such a High Profile team. You are right the refs have been making some really ridiculous calls that almost make you think it should be two hand touch game.

If he is scared to take a hit then he needs to quit. I quit playing football in high school because I quit growing and everybody else kept getting bigger. A man has got to know his limitations. If he was a regular guy that did not have 3 Superbowl rings, tons of endorsements and and Ashton Martin how many supermodels do you think he would have? Years ago teams lost their starting QB and just keeped going, remember the 72 Dolphins? If a team cant win without 1 guy then they aint no good.

When you have rules/penalties for a certain position where you cannot hit them hard or BARELY a late hit...then yes, they are covering the pussies of the league. Nobody is saying Tom Brady is a pussy, pretty much every QB is.......besides the ones that run and don't mind a hit for a TD or a few yards. (cutler, mcnabb, culpepper..back in the day, etc.)

They make the most $$, they are just protecting them for that because they can't take hits.
