Its a matter of opinion as to which is better.. My ski only ran for 6 minutes but it was a closed loop 16 plate he set up... The pluming is pretty basic and the gpr enables you plenty of water suply via the pump to cool everything efficiently.. I will say after pulling the motor in and out vaccuming antifreeze out the bottom of a hull is pain in the ass.

The Heat Exchanger setup allows the motor to keep the OEM BRP cooling setup intact (thermo, antifreeze, expansion bottle, etc), no matter what hull it is in. This allows the motor to function just like it did without any need for adjusting.

Open loop cooling, even though it is a proven design, is recommended to be installed by people that know how to monitor and adjust there motor for optimum operation. This will include installing a gauge and valve to regulate the cooling of the motor.

I'm running the heat exchanger. It's dumb easy to set up, that is, if somebody explains it to you.

But really, I only have a few hours on the setup, but it seems to be working out great. Also, although I haven't done the math, i believe it is cheaper than doing the open loop.

Where do you ride? Salt water, fresh, or both? I ride about 40% salt, 60% fresh, that's one of the main reasons why I went with it.

between open and closed loop, or between the actual heat exchangers?

The closed loop system will add approx. 10-15lbs to a conversion, depending on the heat exchanger and any brackets that are made for it.

10-15, really? That sounds too much...I'd say slightly less than 10.
