    home made opas blockoffs

    Hi everyone,

This may seem like a dumb question but I have to ask. Why are we spending money on opas blockoffs instead of just glassing over the holes when the stock system is removed? It sure would be cheaper.

You can make some cheap covers or glass over the holes if you want.
Some on here have even made there on block off extentions.

But if your going to be running 75 or higher I highly reccomend that you fill in the void once the opas is removed with RE's, riva pro block off's, or even the newer version once there out.

From my experience the ski handles like crap with the opas removed and nothing replacing the void.
YOu will bounce like crazy with that setup once you start making some big speed.

With the mods I have now I am probably going to be around the 74 mph range. Should I leave them on? I only wanted to remove them because I thought they may be a little restrictive and cost a little speed loss.

It's a personal preference. I left mine on but most bypass them and claim better handling which is probably the case, but mine is about the same maybe a little quicker and it handle just fine.

Wait to you decide to install the New Riva open loop plate then you'll see some real porpoising. My big azz GTX bounces around more than riding a bull.

I would leave them on before you removed them and replaced with nothing.

So you don't think I have any top speed loss with them on? This was my main reason for thinking of removing them in the first place.

Loose the training wheels bro! Their only needed for manuevering in close quarters. You might gain some top speed but it wont be anything but tenths of a mile per hour. Its the first thing that guys around here do when they start to mod their skis. I never even missed them.

But what about the comment that skoepp made about the handling getting bad at 75mph or over? My mods will in that speed range.
