Be VERY careful to remove it evenly. There are 2 dowels that align the cover.
Prying too much on one side may crack the cover.

Ryan, did you pull this bolt that's kind of hidden?

CAREFUL tapping with a rubber mallet may be enough to jar it loose. But make sure you have ALL of the bolts out. And hold onto it, you don't want to drop it on the floor either!

In addition to poking around inside the hull, I also carry a Fenix single battery compact flashlight clipped onto each PFD.
Plenty bright, and tough enough to withstand being on the jacket.
Best battery for long run time, and very slow self-discharge, is the Lithium type AA battery. Much better than Alkaline batteries. Lithium batteries cost more, but for safety and utility flashlights, well worth it.
I have several of the older version of this Fenix 2-AA battery flashlight. Lots of brightness, well built, compact. Lithium batteries, keep one flashlight in the car, one in the toolbag, one in the kitchen drawer...
