drive line marks?
So pulled my drive shaft out the other day and noticed some odd marks on it after looking under the ski i noticed some black stuff (maybee glue or melted plastic) where the drive shaft enters the hull. If you feel inside there is a piece of tubbing about an inch long and this black stuff is between that round piece and the main hull. Should I just grind it away? or leave it? What is it? thanks guys

I noticed the same thing on my boat, and it was worst on Nate's boat. With the pump out, I took a die grinder and smoothed it out some. Just enough to clear the drive shaft. I think it is just excess glue.

Spud mentioned a month or so ago about something that happens in there as well. This very well is different than what you are seeing, but I thought I'd bring it back up.
Apparently the suction of that area, can be so great as to pull down the rubber hose, and make contact with the shaft. I've seen it on a few stock hoses, and even one reinforced one now that he mentioned it. It's not doing it on my gates hose, for now.

Good point Mark. After Spud posted that I checked mine and it was indeed collapsing.

Fercho mentioned this I think a couple years ago in his jetworks install pdf.
