    Engine Block question

    WHat is this for(what I am pointing at in the picture)? Also is it needed? When the timming chain broke if broke this off aparently I found it in the oil pan.

    That appears to be the pin tha holds the chain guide in place. Yes, you need that. Without it the guide can not do its job.

    I guess I will have to drill and tap the block so I can bolt it into place
