    Ride Plate

    I have a 08fxho and around 62-63 top speed my ski starts to bounce on flat water. do i need a after market ride plate from riva or should i send my plate over to jim to have it machined???? the thing is i do allot of ocean riding and dont want to lose any handling in the chop.... anyone and everyone please help!!!! Jim your expertise would be awsome

    You can shim the back of the plate about 50 thousands that should help with the porpoise. That's odd usually a completely stock plate should not porpoise that bad, Have you done any work to your plate.

    Haven't done any work to my plate yet. It's still stock. The only thing is if i tune it i dont know if im going to lose some handling and speed in the chop? What do you think JIM?

    Shimming the back 50 thousands will give you better handling.

    so if i do this, I would stop bouncing at top end???

    I am with Jim, it really shouldnt bounce stock

    if you drop the rear of the plate, it will drop the nose, so yes it should correct your bouncing

    Loosen front 2 bolts remove 2 rear bolts install 50 thousands shims between the ride plate and hull in both rear. install rear bolts back and tighten all 4 bolts.

    thanks jim. where would i get those washers, at the local hardware store? and what do i ask for, do i just ask for a 50 thousand washers???
