Dead Yamaha Gpr 1200 Help :) please welcome newbie

I have an opportunity to get a great ski from a neighbor. He thinks its junked because his brother hooked up the battery backwards. He is willing to make a deal but Im not sure the extent of the damage. Theres no sign of damage other than absolutly no power going to anything. I want the ski but dont wanna have to drop big bucks into it. I did a search here but no one with the same model has had the same issue on here. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Oh and btw Im Dan and Im new to greenhulk.

    Thanks,
    Danman

Look on the front of the electical box unscrew the cap and look for a blown fuse.

do some research and if its something simple, tell your neighbor it will need a new expensive computer and get a better deal on it. dont let him know about the fuse, he might end up keeping it for himself.

Are you checking the power with the battery that was hooked up improperly? If so, it could just be the battery is toast. Depending on what kind of "deal" hes willing to give, I say go for it.

Its not the fuse or the battery. I checked both with the meter and all checks out ok. I think its gonna be the starter relay. I was curious if anyone else had done this to their ski. It sounds like a dumb thing to do but on this ski it could be done easily because both the positive and negative leads are covered with that black flex pipe and rubber boots on each terminal. I opened the electronic box and everything looks new. For 55. bucks I could find out if thats the problem but its not my ski yet. Thanks for your input guys.I would be curious to know if anyones reversed their polarity and what was the resolution.

Jump the relay with a insulated handle screwdriver and see if it turns over.
