    The Oil thing (again)

Do you have Castrol "Magnatec" oil over there?
I had a recent service and, just as I was leaving, a Castrol truck pulled up and delivered several drums of "Magnatec"
I looked on my recipt and guess what? I was charged for Magnatec.
I have seen several threads on oil, but never with Magnatec quoted.
Magnatec, in the UK, is a high grade oil supposed to "magnetically" stick to surfaces when the engine is stopped - so reducing wear on cold starts!
I have never looked into it in terms of friction modifiers, etc, but I am pretty sure it's in my Ski right now!
    ...anyone know about this???
I appologise in advance if this is old news!!! (pls feel free to delete the thread, if this is the case as I know oil has already been "done to death"

It appears to be a highly refined mineral oil with 5% ester added.
Initial startup and not at operating temp is most wear to an engine.

He wasn`t gay. If your referring to something that ignorant your an ignorant fool and shouldn`t let the internet obscure your thinking.

    Magnatec

Hoss, There are several oils in the "Magnatec" range - this is one of them.
It is advertised on national TV in the UK and sold as a "superior" product. As I say, I am pretty sure this is in our Ski at the moment!
CASTROL GTX MAGNATEC 10W-40 FOR MODERN ENGINES

Protection from the moment you turn the key

Every time you start your car it takes most oils 10 minutes to work effectively, because the oil cannot protect properly until it reaches a critical temperature. Castrol GTX Magnatec 10W-40 for Modern Engines is different as it gets to work straight away by virtue of a unique synthetic ester that clings to the engine like a magnet - this "Unique Molecular Attraction" provides up to 4 times more protection than a conventional oil during the critical start and warm up period
    • Offers 4 times better wear protection than ordinary oils from start up
    • Provides critical engine protection during start and warm-up periods
    • Oil clings to the engines surface like a magnet providing constant protection even when the engine is switched off

    So is it a blend?
I know cheap synths are a NO NO in our engines...PR...

I only found this out shortly after he died. And Hoss, the Internet had nothing to do with my previous opinion of him. In fact that was long before I even had Internet. He for sure was a remarkable person.
