    Seadoo Value Help?

Just looking for value opinions. I have checked the NADA and KBB values but those are retails prices so I would like to see what private party prices would be. For a 2001 Seadoo XP in very good condition. Hours are unknown, but has 135 PSI for both cylinders. He is the second owner. Only mods are beach house sponsons, finger trigger throttle, also has all new tempo fuel lines. Comes with single trailer with new tires. What do you think it is worth? He was asking $3500 but I have him down to $2700. Thanks for the help

That is not a bad price at all based on what you describe.

Now, this time of year you may be able to hold out a bit and get him down some more. Or, you could try it and someone buy it out from under you but that is the risk you take. Things are slow now so he may not see too many potential buyers for a few months.

The week before July he could probably get 3500 for it easy.

Way too much at $2700 on a single trailer? By the description it is running, BTW.

'98-'99 GTXs are going for $2500 on a trailer (not now, but they do when the weather is warm).

$3500 is too much but at $2700 you are closer. That is right in the middle on the KBB value (and they are a good benchmark) so other than blown up or a desperation sale I do not see you getting it for much less.

When buying a running boat and paying running price you have decide to trust, or not trust the condition of the boat. If you feel that it is a machine that will give you at least two to three seasons running then it is worth that much. If not, you are better off getting one blown up, cheaper, and building to where you do trust it. If you are not a wrench turner, this may not be an option.

But then, I only deal with these 951 powered boats so what do I know... Of course, I could have just fired off a few words with no explanation, or logic, and went on my way.

That's a great price in my area. A 97 787 will sell for that in OR. BTW 98-99 GTX's will fetch $3500 easily. I got a great deal on a 96 GSX at $2200 this summer. I sold a 95 GTX for $1600, a 1992 GTS for $1200 both this last summer. It's amazing how the prices vary so much over the country.

FYI, I just saw a pair of `07 RXT's with trailer on Craigslist for $4800. Seems like a deal to me, but I'm not really in the market for more skis.

I knew that just by seeing the kind of boats and the price. The scammers have lost all of what subtlety they may have once had.
