Oil Pan Leak on a MR-1 Engine

I have a couple of naturally aspirated MR-1 engines that both have a slow leak at the oil pan gasket. I ordered a new set of gaskets and they are the thinnest pan gaskets I have ever seen. The maintenance manual does not specify a sealant, but I believe one is absolutely necessary to seal this problematic joint. This is in a Yamaha sport boat and I know of many that have had this problem.

Has anyone found a solution, or can someone suggest a good sealant to use on the gasket?

Yes put the gasket in place and apply a very light film of gray gasket maker on both sides and you will be fine. That's what i do and have not had any issue.

    Jim,

What are you using? The right stuff? Ultrablack RTV?

I am going to attempt to do this without pulling the engines. Going to be an upside down backache .
