    Stators choices

I have two 1996 Polaris that need stators. One is is a 1996 SLTX with the old CDI and stator. From my research I would think this should be updated to the kit #2873091, is this correct?

The other is a 1996 SLT780 I see this replacement stator on Babbitts to be a part #3240270. I do not see an update kit for this. Can I or should I use an update kit for the SLT780 or just repair the stator?

    Thank you for you assistance.

    Welcome to the Hulk.

The SLT 780 doesn't have an upgrade kit. Usually cheaper to buy another stator, or have your rebuilt. A new OEM stator runs around $400.

    Welcome to Green Hulk !
The 780 (Fuji -Blue) and 1050 (domestic-red head covers) are completely different engines and ignition systems. There is no "update kit' for the Fuji engines.

Thank you for the information. I have a few more questions. Would I be better off rewinding the SLTX startor or buying the update kit? Where is the best place to get the stators rewound or to buy the update kits?

    Thanks again.

From 2000 onwards (and the 1999 Genesis and X-45/SLTX-B '1200' engines), the stator cable exits on the right side of the engine, away from the starter motor (Flywheel back housing PN 1201923).

Not sure if the 1999 SLX with the 1050 engine also used the newer stator version
The 4010257 stator is listed for both the SLTX and SLX
But the 1201563 stator housing is only listed for the SLTX, not the SLX.

Sometimes I just don't trust the Polaris parts cross reference to tell the entire story
