    250x wont fire up

I havent started up my 08 ultra 250x in a few months. im trying to winterize it. i tried starting it and it wont fire. it turnes over for a sec but wont fire, so i dont think its the battery. i checked the spark plugs, there in decent condition. any suggestions? I havent started up my 04 RXP in a few months either and it started right up no problem. i appreciate any info our help you all have. thanks

Would it crank more than a sec if you wanted to?
You should check cyl compression as a first step if:
    > Battery is fully charged
    > Cranks fine for more than several seconds.

yeah it will crank as long as i want it to, it just wont fire up up for more than a second or so.

In addition to cyl compression check, also check if the fuel pump is functioning properly. The fuel pressure should be around 40 psi.

still...dont leave the Plugs out of the equation. They can look alright and still cause a problem. If it ran fine before i would think that is probably the culprit.

other than that sometimes I would get mice nests in my airbox with my snowmibiles...

if none of the above, its probably a fuel problem

but what do I know, my ski hasnt been running for almost a year..

Thanks for the responses. i'll be sure to double check the plugs. and fuel sysytem. hopeing its not a compression problem, but i'll check that out also.

That is irrelevent in this case. I knew someone would say that. That's why I said AROUND. Even the manual says - "approximately".

The point is that engine should still start at 40 psi.
