Back again, and with problems.
Here is the problem, The last 3 or 4 rides I take it out...let it warm up and give it full throttle. It will take off like a rocket, than all of a sudden it seems like if the rev limiter kicks in and takes it down rpm's and it will run about 45 mph. It can keep pulling the throttle until it comes out of it..and then it will come back. It will do this for a while until I ride it for a good 10-20 minutes and then it will not do it. If its sits for a few hours and I take it out, it will do it again for a bit and then finally will come out of it.
I checked compression and got 135 in all 3 cylinders so thats good. (dissipointed because I bought a rec R&D head to run 150, but oh well) I went to replace the spark plugs thinking that might be it. I pulled the boots and notcied that when I pulled the 3rd boot, the plug and boot were dirty. Well, I sprayed some break cleaner in it, clamped the boot down incase the connection was bad, and went out for a run again. Same thing heppend. Im wondering if I need to replace the wires and boots? Im kind of stumped now. I plan on keeping the ski for a bit but when I want to get rid of it I want to make sure its running right.
Any ideas guys? Thanks.

Check all the fuel filters and check pick up inside the tank
If you unscrew the boot you will be able to tell if the wires are good or bad.
If there bad pieces of wire will fall out the end where they broke inside the outer cover.
If there bad you can trim them back a little.
I dont think its the plug wires but there easy to check,I think its the fuel delivery.
It could also be a pulser coil or a bad connection (ground/short)

ok, I will check that. It seems like the motor shakes too when it has this problem. It's weird though that it comes out of it and compression is good. When it first happend, I was like "well, there went one of my cylinders."

You may just need a new external fuel filter, good luck.

thanks. I head home thursday and I will take it out and see if there is anything in it. Last one had a bunch of blue paint in from the person I bought it from in 2005 that painted inside the fuel cap. Let ya know what I find.

you might pull the carbs and check the filters in them as well. unless you have removed them. what did your plugs look like?

I removed the filters. I have aftermarket FA's. When I had to replace them the 3rd one looked dirty. I replaced them and checked and they all look good.
