    Amsoil vs Kawasaki engine oil

Quick question regarding the proper or best engine oil to use on a pair of 1997 Kawasaki's (1100stx/900zxi).
I am thinking of using the Amsoil for PWC (HP Injector) vs the Kawasaki "blue" oil in these machines. I believe the previous owner used Pennzoil Premium oil for 2 stroke engines (not sure on price). The kawasaki 1-gal is about $22 in my area (Los Angeles). I am trying to help reduce the outburst of smoke from these engines and also save on consumption.

Any recommendation would be greatly appreciated and previous experiences.
Also, would it be OK to mix the oils from different brands or wait until its almost used up and then pour some new brand?

    Thanks!

I am 99% sure that Kawasaki's oil is made by someone else and rebranded.

Maxima or Amsoil would be my choice.

You can mix the 2 oils. I would wait till the kawi oil is a little low then put in the AMSOIL. You may want to put in new plugs after you run the oil for a while also.

Why would I want to replace the plugs after I switch the oil? Any particular reason? What do you guys use for you skis?

Just because they might have a bunch of carbon and oil on them from the petroleum oil. If they look good just leave them in.

Is the amsoil recommended at this point for a pair 1997 kawasakis? Or should I just stick with the local auto shop premium brands for about 1/2 the price of this stuff?

    thanks

I converted to AMSOIL and never looked back.

I just winterized my ski and changed the oil which was spottless, including my oil filter. I'm very impressed. I even use Amsoil for my pump oil.

    Definatley recommend Amsoil.
