    quick octane ?

i was running down the river and ski was runing fine. low on gas i found a marina with 89 octane. when i started it back up i started to get a quick bog when i go wotit bogs for a secound then climbs the rpms normally. i was running 93 all day. their was barely any 93 left, less thn 1/2 gallon. so it was streight 89. would the 89 octane do this?

    mods r in sig

mine did the same thign when I tried to run reg. fuel. That was most liekly your problem, the fuel was your only variable.

Not trying to be a smartass, but with the heads you guys are running, isn't 92 octane recommended due to the increased compression? I understand you could only find 89 at the Marina, but I am sure your problem was due to running 89.

Also, I do not trust the Marina gas on the lake I ride on. Back in the day (1994) I had a PRO VXR with a protec wake up kit on it. I had to run premium. One weekend me & some friends filled up all day at the marina with so called super unleaded. By the end of the weekend my o-rings had blown and I was spitting steam out of the bypass instead of water.

Yeah, I always run premium in mine but i was running out and just got a couple gallons to get back to teh ramp! I dont trust the gas at the marina either, it always has water in it!

Next time, after you put the bad stuff in, feather the throttle the whole way back, varying rpms. STAY OUT of the 3/4 throttle to full throttle area. Keep the rpms backed down, but definately vary the throttle the whole way. Do not go WOT under any circumstances including emergency or you'll find yourself with some nice stuck pistons.
