    Old School Carb Rehab

The carbs on my 99 GP1200 had all the paint coming off and were starting to corrode externally.

I completely stripped them down removed all the hardware. I cleaned them, then glass bead blasted them.

After coming out of the bead blaster I again cleaned them, then I chem-film coated them with Alodine.

I then masked and coated them with black epoxy.

This was a time consuming process but in the long run well worth it. The coating will keep any corrosion from occurring under the paint.

I did the usual tricks, removed choke plates, plumbed for dual fuel supply and drilled the returns out. I also removed all the paint from the stainless and brass parts and polished them up.

I installed all new Mikuni internal parts, upgraded the N&S and re-jetted.

    Here is the results.

I think I am sticking with the R&D F/A I got it from Njjer I think can't remember exactly. It is a pain to align the F/A and get the top on though.

    Looking good Bill!

Where can the Alodine be found?

Also, wasn't me with the R&D.

You can find it online, I got mine from work it was heading for the chemical waste, 3 brand new never opened bottles.

I can't remember who I bought that R&D power plenum from, it was in great shape.
