Changed the impeller, now a problem

So i changed my impeller due to damage and went from a 4 blade to a 3 blade. Also changed out the housing.

I took it out for its first test run and right from the start it felt a little funny. I figured maybe it was the impeller difference.
Seemed like from a stop it had a little delay on the initial jump from a dead stop but once it was moving it felt ok..

Then i went full throttle to see how it felt on the top end. After about 20 seconds full blast it started to make a loud noise from the back and the ski was shutting down so I hit the kill button.

Then started right back up as if nothing went wrong..

Tried it two more times going full blast and after 15-20 seconds at top speed it would keep doing this..

    Any ideas?

It would help if you told us what ski, what year, what props, etc.

    rectal deflade? huh?

The impeller was chopped up pretty bad when I took it out.
And the new impeller wouldn’t spin in the old housing. Guess it was warped. Once I got the new housing the new impeller seemed to fit nicely.

I’m guess I damaged it from riding in shallow waters and sucking up sand, rocks, and shells.
    Amateur mistake I know.

Huh? a 4 blade I thought they only made 3 bladed props for this ski.

    earlier years had 4 blades...

well seems like maybe the wear ring was expanded from the housing and causing the replacement prop to rub, ok, you corrrected that with installing an 04 wear ring or stator? anyway you say the prop spinned nicely, ok, so how were the bearings? any play or looseness?

the larger hub prop from the 05 will work in the smaller hub pump...

so far I`m a little confused in exactly what your running...

which wear ring, which pump, and we know the prop is 05...

didnt have any play in the bearings..(thats if u mean on the drive shaft)

wear ring is from a 2004, didnt touch the pump, and yeah the prob is the 05-06 3 blade style

Well the main problem is when I go full blast. It runs fine for all of 15-30 seconds and then a loud sound starts 2 happen… almost sounds like the impeller coming loose with a little metal on metal action. Also I lose power.. out of fear of the noise and power loss, I kill the engine almost immediately after this starts 2 happen..

Funny thing thou.. it started right back up if nothing went wrong.

I did a total of 3 high speed test runs and it happened all three times.
