    Stuffed wear ring?

Hey guys, i seem not to be able to reach quite as much revs as i used to be able to on my x. it has 60 hours on it. Is it possible my wear ring could be the cause?? It cavitates a little off the line but i thought that could be just due to the R&D grate.
    Cheers

Is it warming up down there? Check the slip on your SCer. Most Xs I have seen have low slip on stock washers by 40-50 hours. Replace with RIVA washers.

Yer bro, got to like 35 degrees today, should be a great summer!! My s/c has just been rebuilt. Slip is at 13 ft/lbs. So the issue isnt with that. Possibly just heat fade.. But am pulling about 7860 rpms, which seems quite low

Are you running the outwear cover on your airfilter? Try taking it off and do a run. I always get 40-60 more rpms without the cover on. When did you pull that 8060rpm the middle of the winter? Just maybe the heat.

If you can't find anything wrong. Change the plugs, if they are 40-50hrs old and try tweaking your prop for 8080-8100 in the heat. This will get you, your best speed and acceleration.

Is your oil over full or at the top notch?

Thats a good idea, too. Since it sounds like he just did some maintenance.

Worn wear ring will reduce rpms.

Also, to answer his original question. Yes, a severely worn out wear ring will cause a loss in rpms. I have seen a 50 rpm gain from a worn wear ring to a new one but not 200rpms. He should check everything we have mentioned including replacing the wear ring if its damaged and see where that gets him before pitching the prop.

YES! In fact, damaged wear rings are one of the most common problems
related to loss of performance and cavitation... especially if you drive the ski up onto the beach a lot or happen to suck up rocks in the pump! Check the edges of your impeller while your under there...
