    Impeller clearance

I can't seem to be able to find where the info about impeller clearances is. I measured my clearance with my old wear ring and prop and found it to be 0.5mm. I do have a new wear ring on its way, but I would like to know what is considered normal clearance.

Maximum clearance is spec'ed at 0.020 inches
Typical clearance being 0.010 inches or less.

    Less is better

Looks like your 0.5mm clearance is right at the upper limit.

    Right from the book.

    STD. .002 - .008" (.05 - .20mm)

    Service limit .020" (.5mm)

Looks like you're at the service limit.

You can have your impeller refurbished at places like Skat trak or Impros for around $80-100 or so.

Or you can get another impeller.

A new wear ring would also get the clearances tighter too.

Make sure the pump bearings are good, otherwise you'll get impeller and ring wear rather quickly.

Apparently the $25 impeller refurb service offered by SBT does a nice job, despite the low price.

I have a new wear ring on its way, and I already installed new bearings, seals, and o-rings. I will check the clearance again once the new wear ring gets here. I will most likely need to change the impeller anyways.

    AB stands for Alberta.

It is the province located directly north of Montana. There's some nice lakes in Montana! Great country!
