Dang I got an SBT Motor in my ski.

Well heres the low down.... I Bought my ski used with ski "SHOWING 25 Hours" .. All was good till i changed gthe oil about 3 months ago and noticed shavings in the filter.... so during the rest of the year i put about 25 hours on it no problems except more shavings..

    So now to yesterday.

I decided i was going to tear down the engine and find out why there was shavings.Well i got it yanked and noticed a nice pretty SBT sticker on the front of the engine name plate.

    Heres what i found:

1 Bad worn Main bearing( Between cylinder 3 and 2
    1 Bad worn Rod bearing(Cylinder # 2)
1 Bad Timing chain (HAS ABOUT 10 Seized Links)
1 Bad Piston (something got wedged between head and piston)
1 Bad Primary Pump( Looks like it ate a washer)
1 Bad Secondary Pump(It too looks like it ate a washer)

The screens in the pumps were about 25% occluded

I havent had a chance to strip the CYLinder Head down yet so who knows what i will find.

I also Noticed that My Pistons are .050 over. And im not sure if i have any oversized bearings.

Im taking my Block and Head to have them cleaned and oil Gallies flushed and taking the crank to see if its good.

From what I've read, you cam only buy replacement parts from them because everything has been either overbored or underground. In other words, you cannot buy OEM parts to fix it... Ron

I know that alot in that engine is printed with SBT (pistons, Bearings). I know for that kind of stuff im gonna have to go and bow (regretably) to SBT But I would think that the Oil pumps would be factory, and also the timing chain.

It seems like they have a 1 (or maybe 2) year warranty, that becomes void if you take the engine apart... Ron
