    Best piston for a pv

I am rebuilding my 99 pv 1200. Does anyone know the best piston to get. Is stock pv with waveeaters sufficient

the general word is OEM pistons are best, esp with ported setups.

prox are also a good piston but not for ported motors due to some slight differences

Yes, they are both made by ART of Japan...doesn't mean they are identical, but they are made by the same company.

FWIW, I'm running $70 WSM Platinums in my 8000rpm, ported, piped GPR...Ran like a champ all summer.

It's a total ripoff what Yamaha charges for OEM pistons - over $180 each bare, no pins, bearings, rings. You can buy a set of top of the line pistons for a V8 from JE, Probe, etc. for $800 a set. And this is even for weird, low production engines.

I talked to JE a few weeks ago about doing a run of 1300 pistons but they were totally disinterested. They referred me to their sister company, Wiseco.

them 1200 oem pistons are cheaper than the 1300s

also wiseco makes a forged piston for the 1200s
