Need help with idle. please please

Just got my polaris msx 140 back. It was rebuilt by the dealer. The dealer is more than 2 hours away. The ski runs perfect just will not hold an idle. Does anybody know how to adjust this? I know the ski as fuel injection.

Being electronics, you'll have to take it back to dealer as there won't be many adjustments you can do manuallyGet with K447, i believe he has one and is very knowledgeable

    Welcome to the Polaris forum

What was wrong with the MSX 140 before it went to the dealer, and what did the dealer do?

What happens when it doesn't idle?
Does it just die right away, or does it stumble and idle roughly before stopping?

Other than the idle not working, does it run properly?
What is your maximum sustained RPM at WOT?

The idle is controlled by the EMM at 1150 RPM, in or out of the water. The EMM monitors the throttle position via the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor).

There is no idle adjustment. If everything is configured and working properly, the idle will be correct.

The TPS is mounted on the rear end of the throttle body, and when you squeeze the throttle lever, the throttle shaft turns the TPS, and the EMM sees the electrical signal from the TPS.

Is the slack adjusted correctly for the throttle lever? There should be just a tiny bit of slack in the throttle lever at idle, so the throttle body plates are not held open when your hand is off the throttle.

Can you answer some of the other questions?

Did the dealer water test it after the rebuild?

Has it ever idled properly since the rebuild?

Does it idle OK on the trailer?

Unplug the 3-pin TPS connector, and start the engine.
Does it idle better with the TPS unplugged?

IMO I'd get back to the dealer pronto and make them repair it, before they start a blame game saying you messed something up. it's only 2 hours that shouldn't be too hard to do. i wish i could find a dealer that services Polaris's jetskis even within 5 hours. There are several Polaris dealers but they don't want anything to do with Polaris jetskis

If it doesn't idle on the trailer (and didn't even right after the engine was repaired), and was not water tested, then the 'dealer' may not really be competent with the Ficht engines.

Many engine repair guys are not familiar with Ficht, don't have the diagnostic tools or skills, and just focus on the mechanical aspects.

At the moment what I am doing is asking for information and the results of simple tests. Nothing that would damage or interfere with the repairs, or even that the dealer would notice.

onefastgpr - If you have the information, can you list what parts were replaced, and what was actually done to the engine?

    And answer the previous questions
