Question Gel Coat cracks or worse

    Wanted some opinions here.

Went riding the other day and found a few spiderweb cracks on the right side of my 2005 RXP. The spot on the ski where they are line up with the "OO" part of "SEADOO" so they are near the front of the ski.

You can see the spiderwebbing and in one spot can feel it. When I pressed against the cracks, some water comes out. The fiberglass underneath does not seem to give when pressed.

Before I take it to a fiberglass / gel coat guy I wanted some opinions.

    Thanks in advance!

depending on how bad it is, possible problems can be, gelcoat has come off and you are slowly 'delaminating'the rest of the ski, which means grinding the rest of the gelcoat off and respraying it on. or its just a small chip and you have gotten on top of it in time for a small repair, has it had impact at all? also just because the glass looks fine it doesnt mean its all good....however these are worst cases.....

I don't think I have hurt performance at all.

Raced my RXP vs my T-X about 10 times side by side with my buddy. The RXP still walked away from the T-X every time. It has historically been about .5 mph faster and that held true a few days ago.

Hole shot and top end still seem what they were in comparison to the T-X.

Haven't had GPS on the skis in a couple months. Too choppy in Oct and too humid / rainy out the other day.

Hopefully, I have caught this early.

This is exactly where most RXPs develop stress cracks and some eventually delaminate from this. Read this thread and check out the pics ... the stress cracks develop exactly where the 'feet' in the inner hull pound against the outer hull, with all the weight of the full gas tank doing the pounding ...
