    Race pipes or Factory pipes

ok so what is the rpm/ speed diff. between the special pipes and the facotry pipes for the pro 1200 is it really worth the huge price diff. ??

200+ rpms (closer to 400 if you've got enough gas to actually feed the beast...ie, bigger carbs)...

In short...if oyu just want to build up a motor through bolt ons and don't really want to go into the motor then no, they're not worth it...

However if you're building a monster motor then they are sooooooo worth it...

7200(fp) vs 7500+(race pipe) on stock motor

7500ish(fp) vs 8000(race pipe) on a worked motor...

Is the extra 3+mph and monster acceleration worth the money...that questions for you?

It really seems like a no brainer to me as anybody can get the FP units and how many have the "special" units capabale of big build up?
I need the speed and massive hit so maybe I'm a Little biased.

Just in case anyone was wondering what advantage was between them.

    Wow,
    These are some old threads...
The true "race pipes" were capable of over 8200 Rpm with a 17-26 impeller at 17-1 compression ratio.. They ran on VP C-14 or C-16, and could accellerate 0-60 in 2.3 seconds.. IN full race trim.

The Polaris production triple pipes made their torque peak at approx 7200- 7400 Rpm (as I remember) and hardly ever turned over 7500- 7600 Rpm on a well tuned ski. The average consumer would not have been able to keep the race pipes alive, so the production triples were detuned for the general consumer..

    Randy

    100 Rpm = approx 1 mph.

That brings up questions about my pipes, Randy. Are they true race pipes, or have they been detuned?
