    SLT or SLTX hull

I scored a 1995 SLT hull, and may have a shot at a 1997 SLTX hull.

    My questions would be:

What's the difference between the 2 ride wise?

Would it be worth the hassle of installing a Fuji engine into a SLTX?

The SLTX is almost 90 lbs heavier. Would it suffer tremendously if it had a 100 HP 780 VS. the 115+ HP 1050 installed?

Does the big bore TQ have a much larger impact on rideability, rather than peak HP numbers?

If you have/had either of these, what performance mod/s have you done?

And what seemed to work the best for choppy water?

    Thanks

I have exact one. Rides smooth , never get wet basically. 49 mph tops, great on gas for its size. 4 hrs run time, no mods here. stock.slides corners, 360's 180's very stable, unforgiving if you bounce off it because of its weight, no sponsons.

90# is alot, with the 780,i'd stick with the slt if you still want some sorta speed, the sltx would be a more stable ride with the extra weight on Erie.

Other than power I see no difference between my SLT and my SLTX

I'm not convinced it would be a hassle, the mounting points may be different but I'm not sure...everything else seems identical. I know you have a fuji but the domestic has more bang for the buck.

I wonder if the 90#'s comes from the different motors. the only other difference I can see is the hood and sponsons. My SLT bored .50 over with Boysen Pro reeds can't hold a candle to the SLTX with 92 HSP domes.

Does the big bore TQ have a much larger impact on rideability, rather than peak HP numbers?.

If you mean torque the SLTX planes faster, has better acceleration and speed but the ride is the same

If you have/had either of these, what performance mod/s have you done?

SLT .50 over and power reeds 50 mph
    SLTX .25 over with 92domes 55+ mph

And what seemed to work the best for choppy water?

Both handle chop really well. I put and R&D grate and a OP plate on the SLTX and had noticable gains in handleing, take off, and keeping hooked up in chop.

    Thanks

Does the SLT have sponsons on it? If not, then the SLTX would be a much better ride. Also, does the SLT have bow stracks? If not, then you will get a lot more bow spray back at you than the SLTX. The little heavier hull of the SLTX will help more in rough water conditions.

    hull

the 95 slt uses a different rideplate than the sltx and i'm sure they're other differences between the hulls

Thanks for the info so far guys.

The manual is showing a 95 SLT has:

    Length 120.3"

    Width 47.3"

    Height 37"

    Dry weght 530 lbs

    Hull material polyester/glass composite

Interestingly enough, the 1996 SLT 780 and the 1996 SLTX are virtually identical:

    Length: 120.3"

    Width 49.3"

    Height 39"

Dry weight 615 lbs (595 lbs for SLT 780)

    Hull material Sheet Molded Compound

Tony, thanks for answering my Q's.

Yeah when I wrote torque, I was refering to the larger bore engine torque. Trying to figure out if the thing will be a dog out of the hole?

32degH20, It does not have sponsons, but I will be adding them.

Not sure what bow stracks are? But I don't mind the bow spray. It actually like it on a hot day.

Maybe ask Robert about the ride,he might have a side by side comparison.

I noticed a slight difference where the flat side of the bottom hull starts-not sure if it would be noticeable.
I think the "stracks" 32deg mentioned are the 2 fins near the very front.
