    stock vs riva head

    dont know if i should just shave the factory head or buy the riva head and girdle. i know i still have to shave the riva head to get the desired comp. then somebody told me the factory head is just as good but i will have a cyl with about 5 psi less then the other two what do the gurus recommend i do

    ok so i did my research seems that lowell is the man for milling stock heads and the aftermarket heads are just for look (correct me if i am wrong) does anybody know how much he charges or how i can contact him

    yeah that is what everybody said when i researched. gonna give lowell a call on monday to inquire pricing. what is the squish band mod that he does and is worth it i have an 05 gpr

    you only need to mod the squish band if you really cut into the head, its done to make sure the pistons have the correct clearance from the head. You can go 140/140/135 psi and not touch the squish band on an oem head but any more and you most likely have to ( i am not exactly sure when) but i know that 150psi heads have the squish done.

    just tell lowell exactly what setup you have now and what you want compression wise but keep it under 155psi or one bad batch of fuel and it may damage your motor as the more comp you have the more octane you need. octane content does not become real critical until you advance the timing and run high compression
