Anyone in the market for a high end GPS needs to wait
I was thinking of getting the newest Garmin Nuvi so I could have the Google connection or what ever it is called. While reading some reviews I ran into this and I think I will wait for them to roll this out
Sometime next year, Garmin nuvi GPS devices will have the option of displaying information on your car's inner workings using EcoRoutes ESP—a module that taps into your car's onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) port. The module relays this information to your GPS unit via Bluetooth where you will be able to view a set of customizable gauges that provide details on things like fuel economy, RPMs, throttle position, intake manifold pressure, coolant temperature, intake air temperature, and emissions.

That will eventually be the same unit you carry around as your cell phone. Google is taking over the world.
Google is a beast. The GPS market is going to get crushed. I am not talking just handhelds, but the price for licensing mapping data to then use it for turn by turn directions is going drop significantly. GOOGLE IS about to eat the GPS industries for lunch. SKYNET is officially here

There are already several companies making devices that do just what you described, but having a GPS included is kind of cool.
