    Ocean pro head

This is the head from my Slt from 8 years ago. It's a OP head with the swirls in it, From the pics you can see deto going on in there. This is the Head from the 3 pistons I showed earlier in another thread. Can Randy shave this down and remove the swirls? IF so, How much of HP gain would I gan? Does it cost a lot to have this done? Do you need new heads bolts to strech to yield again? or can you use the old ones? Do they make a 1-piece copper gasket or do you have to use 3 incividual ones again? any size thickness to them?
How would I know what squish is after I have after the machining work done? And if this was correct? Would I adjust for squish with head gasket/s?. Thx...

OP only had individual gaskets in .015 and .030 thinknesses I think.
You can email Randy, and send him pics of the head, and get a quote from him. [email protected]

That is debris damage, not deto.

Deto shows up as many tiny "pin holes" often around the outer perimiter or around the spark plug hole.

That center head has a bunch of pin holes. Take a close look at the second pic.

Stars right there xlint89. The middle one had the good clean lean piston in it! the outer 2 had debris in the combustion chamber. I just looked again at it and all you see is pinholes everywhere. the inside dome and outer perimeter area.

Now if it's deto or pre-ig.. I'm not sure. like I said, this guy probably just bolted this head on and gaskets and the f'a's and just rode it without adjusting the carbs accordingly.

Use the second pic with the whole head upside down, it's easier to see the pinholes rather than the single middle clyinder pic. click on the pic to make it zoom and you'll really be able to see it.

Can Pre-ignition look like pinholes too ? or is there a completly looking different pattern for Pre-ignition?

Here is good reading on detonation.... http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=22343

Here are good pictures of piston damage with diagnosis, but doesn't include deto or preignition damage... http://www.smellofdeath.com/lloydy/p...diag_guide.htm

Here are some good pics with deto and pre-ignition included... http://www.theultralightplace.com/pistons.htm

That CEN one is still debris damage.

I'll try to find a real good pic of deto "pin holes".

Hey, i was just checking out the second pic zoomed in and you can see the head on the right side up close,on the left side of the chamber wall, it's all torn up where the other side is almost nothing wrong. I wonder why that ended up like that? the rings were still in tack when I removed them. Did the swirl of the head do that and throw all the debris to that side?. maybe it's the exhaust side.
