speed loss how is this possible?

I have an 06 RXP with Riva Stage 1 and a free flow exhaust. I typically gps 71 mph with a full tank and a 225 lb rider.

I went out yesterday with the addition of Riva Pro Series Sponsons and Riva Pro Series opas block offs. Air temp 65' and water temp 44' no wind. Seemed like a perfect mix for a new top speed. The best I could get was 68.5. How is this possible. Did my add ons slow me down?

I've always heard that aftermarket sponsons like Rivas give you better handling but slow you down on top end... but I don't know if they slow you down that much...

Rpms drop any? If not play around w/ the sponsons a bit. Move them into different positions or take them off and put the stock ones back on and see what happens

Same here. If you are at the same RPM, not sure. Do you have a boost gauge?

Check your block offs with a straight edge and make sure they are not angled down towards the rear.

sponsons are not even in the water top end neither are the block offs really ..
if you had it trimed up to high it will slow you down as well..
1 or 2 clicks above nutral seemed to be the best for top end on most skis

when was the last time you checked the slip on the charger ... that is most likely the cause
or possibly your ware ring is worn out

Block offs are in the water. How do you think they help with porpoising?
If the charger was slipping his rpms would be down.
