    Max RPMs?

    I hate to start yet another thread, but I can't seem to find where there is any specs on the rev limiter of the '94 SL650 CDI. I was planning on using my current CDI and stuff on my Sleeper project, but since I realized that this build is going to be for me and not my wife (she wants SLT or something newer) I may want to get some more top end out of it as well. Motor is most likely going to be:

    -Ported 785 case
    -High compression heads
    -780 cylinders (honed to 71.5mm, probably ported)
    -Ported/polished exhaust manifold
    -Stock pipe
    -Stock waterbox
    -Stock carbs and intake manifold (jetted of course)
    -Some type of aftermarker F/A's
    -Aftermarket reeds
    -Bored pump nozzle (3.5mm over - oops!)
    -R&D intake grate
    -OP (R) ride plate
    -Stock 650 impeller
    -Nitrous Oxide kit for the times when I am falling behind

    Is the Stock CDI sufficient?

    6700 RPM limiter.

    Would work fine, but a SLX 780 CDI would be better.

    It has more advanced timing, and the yellow wire on it can be cut, which will bump up the rev limiter another couple hundred RPM.

    OR you can install a PRO 785 CDI and get even more advance, and a 8000 RPM limiiter.

    Whichever you get, you'll need to adjust your jetting for it.

    So I am getting a Pro 785 CDI for this project....

    This is going to be one heck of an SL650!!!
