MX style handlebars on a 96XP

Is it possible to mount MX style handlebars on a stock 1996 XP without an aftermarket steering kit? I want to put different handlebars on my ski, but I dont really want to drop 500 bucks on a UMI steering system.

I know I need to get the throttle adapter and switch housing. But would anything else be needed?

Not sure about a 96 but I fitted Star Bars straight on my 99 after removing the crappy original padding etc

Yes... you can add aftermarket bars on a 96XP! You can even use the stock throttle, and the switch housing (although it looks like crap). You can get away with just the bars, and aftermarket grips... but it looks much nicer with a billet finger throttle, and switch housing! You will also need to relocate the buzzer... no big deal though. You will probably also want to paint the stock steering stem, as it's not real pretty when exposed. Good luck!

OK great, this may be a winter project then! I am currently working on the trailer, so once I get that done, this may come out of storage for a bit of work mid winter. Seeing as how my season doesn't really start until April or May I got some time to dig up some cash for this!
