Thread: Upsidedown RXPX

    Upsidedown RXPX

Bosses totalled X with 17 hrs. Needed to turn it upside down to do hull repair. Made a dolly, drained fuel and oil, lifted the boat with an overhead crane by the front tie down loop and one rear transom loop. This was accomplished with a two inch nylon strap. suspended the boat, rolled it over by hand and let it down on the dolly.

It helps to own a steel fab shop.

I would be very leery of having that engine hanging on just the motor mounts the way it is.

The couple times I have had to do this on skis I got it to where I was working and put a large folded up drop cloth onto the head of a jack and put pressure on the engine so that the engine weight was on the jack.

I have heard of engines pulling the mounts out of the ski.

    Good luck with the Repair!

+1 My Local dealer said if you are going to put ski upside down or on its side for hull work the engine needs to be supported some how. Im sure you could put some sort of support on the trolly you have made that can be sort of wound up to push the engine upwards and take the strain. Engine mounts are not designed to hang and engine on. R88

+1. Also after flipping it upright you will want to remove the spark plugs and crank the engine over while holding wot to get all of the oil out of the cylinders wich will hydrolock the engine and can cause serious damage, Even though you drained the oil there is still a quart or so in it. The bottom line is DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE WITHOUT REMOVING THE PLUGS AND CRANKING IT FIRST! Also, dont be suprised if it smokes like crazy when you do get it running.

Wow ... I think the motor will never hold this position ... you have to put some support for the engine and drain Gas,Oil,Water Cooler, Battery out of the craft.

BTW, gas, oil, etc, etc is no problem. The 4tec engine was design as if " I roll over my ski concept" design, will I be able to unroll it and go? It does

That kind of weight is not good on the motor mounts.
