    SL900 Newbie

    Hi everyone,

    Newbie from Australia!

I have just purchased my first pwc, a 97 SL900. I settled on this model as it was one owner with 78 hours run time but he hasn't run it for 3 years. Compression across 3 cylinders from 135-140psi so I believe the engine has plenty of life in her. Whilst i am new to pwc I am mechanically minded so will be changing plugs, filters, draining old fuel/oil replenishing with new etc etc. If anyone has any good tips for servicing a ski sitting around for a long time would love to hear it. I have the service manuals but would love an owners manual if anyone can help please let me know.

I look forward to contributing to this group as I gain experience on these machines.

    cheers

    Here comes the first check!

In the mechanic's favor that is. OK, I decided to get this thing checked out properly, and yep good compression but fail marks to the Impeller (chunks missing) Bearing and Housing as well as a faulty fuel sender (I knew about that one).

Sorry for jumping on for advice so quickly, but I'm trying to desperately source these parts asap from USA as Australian stocks don't exist.

Part numbers I have are: Impeller 5131588, Bearing "Rev 02 563 0475", Sender p1551 005 557A. the last 2 don't look like standard part numbers that is all they have.

Questions are, can I run bearing part number 1341115, Sender 2410047, Impeller 5130874 - these are the only ones i can find on the net.

Will these be compatible? If anyone has a parts manual it would help also.

Sorry for jumping on straight up with questions, I just wanted a good service and got more than I bargained for!!!

    thanks all.

I have a near mint condition impeller from a 1996 SL900 that I can sell you. The part number is 5131337. I can't say for sure but I think the main difference between this impeller and yours is that this one is a swirl design. It should work just fine. Send me a PM if your are interested in it.

Hi guys, I have researched the parts and some of them look interchangeable - particularly the stator pump which is also needing change.

I want to ask what may be a stupid question, but I found someone who has a complete pump in good condition from a 94 SL650 which I suspect I can connect up as the housings do look the same. The impeller and housing are different, however since it is a complete unit will this work? And would I have cavitation type problems?

Please don't lecture me on this, if this is a stupid question, just reply with "stupid", if it is feasible I would love to hear more - thanks guys!!
