Here are some photos of the three I have for sale. I just don't use them anymore. Last time I did, each one was working fine.

I am selling these as is, since I don't have the time to mess around and try to fully test everything.

I also have the original boxes, which are not shown in the photos.

When new these three cost me circa $1,500.

I am asking for $175 each for the Radar only units and $225 for the Laser+Radar unit, or $500 for all three.

Buying all three together would simplify things for me. I will include the three V1 units, plus the two optional remote displays, and all the related bits and pieces you see in these pictures.

Are you asking about the remote display (Valentine calls it a concealed display)?

You can mount the remote display anywhere in the car (often down low, where those outside the car cannot see it while you are driving). When you plug it into the V1 (using the supplied telephone type cord, or one of your own), the V1 display goes blank, and the remote display takes over.

So the V1 can be mounted up where it can see the radar beams (through the front and rear windows), yet no-one will notice it, since the V1 is dark, and the remote display is mounted somewhere more discreet

The V1 system is rather well thought out, and you can configure the installation a few different ways, depending on what you need.

I had mine hard wired using the supplied power module and a hidden power switch, but it also works well with the cigarette lighter plug, with or without the remote display.

In some cars, the best hidden mounting location is up near the top of the windshield. You can then route the cord down to the remote display.

If you want an absolutely latest version, current spec V1, then it would be better to buy it directly from Valentine.

What I am selling are V1 units that I have owned and used, and they have worked well for me. They are excellent with X band, and provide good defense with the newer K band radar. I am also including the two remote displays, and I think the package price is good value.

No radar detector provides a guarantee of certain protection, and a well located instant-on radar with a skilled operator can record your speed in a fraction of a second, sometimes with no prior warning. If there is no radar emission prior to your vehicle being targeted, then the V1 will alert you when that radar trigger is pulled, but you will still get the ticket. This is true of every radar detector.

If you drive with your brain engaged, and eyes far down the road, then the V1 becomes your backup, not your primary defense. And it works very well in that role. It will alert you when you forget to slow down in a higher risk area, and active radar is detected ahead.

It can be very helpful to know where the radar is coming from, which is a V1 strong point. Radar coming up behind you, or on a cross road, is a different issue than radar sitting in front of you. The V1 can tell you where the radar is coming from, and I have found that to be quite useful at times

From what I can tell, Valentine doesn't 'update' the older V1 units, per se.

They discount the cost of a brand new unit, depending on the version of the unit you send in. If you do the upgrade, you send in your current unit, and they immediately ship you a new spec unit in exchange.

The Laser+Radar unit is close to current spec, and the Radar only units are somewhat older, but still covers all the bands, including Ka.

    From the Upgrade web site;
Laser+Radar unit "While this version is not quite up to today’s V1 standard for Ka, it’s almost always good enough, and always better than detectors from other makers. X and K performance is excellent. Upgrading merely to improve radar performance is not cost effective..."

    Radar only "...
We’ve made major steps up in Ka since then, and Ka alerts are now numerous. If you value performance, we advise upgrading. You will also enjoy far fewer Ka false alarms. Upgrades add our latest front-and-rear laser warning..."

I have actually used these Radar only units more than the Laser+Radar unit, and the Ka limitation has not been a big issue for me. If Ka is really important in your area, then you could upgrade from this unit, or buy a new one. If Ka isn't so important, then this should work well for you.

Somewhere around here I have the original purchase paperwork, but I haven't found it yet

Arrow Price reduced to $500 for all three V1 units, plus the remote displays

$175 each for the Radar only units and $225 for the Laser+Radar unit, or $500 for all three.

One V1 unit new from Valentine, plus the concealed display, would cost almost as much as I am selling all three for.

I ran a Valentine in my ZR-1 Corvette, it was and is the best on the market. Anyone that went fast (really fast) used one. As a matter of fact I still have mine... of course I no longer need it because my minivan loaded with all the kids can't go over the speed limit with a tail wind, but anyway it is by far the best.

    good luck with the sale.

    Arrow Last chance before eBay

    Going on eBay next...

$125 each for the Radar only units and $185 for the Laser+Radar unit, or $400 for all three.
