I fix my friends coil with electrical strink rap tube. Make sure is the industrial applications its stronger then regular. If not mistaken is 5/8" dia. Those coil if purchase from your seadoo dealer is $108.00. Adrian just clean the metal part really good cut the strink rap tube the same size of the one you have, heat up and you done.

The plastic splits around the coil due to corrosion of the soft iron shield.

I know many that run without this metal shield.

It does;- 1, Protect from too much heat, but the heat in there is pretty much the same everywhere, and doesn't seem to affect anything.
2, Acts as an RFI shield too.

Never seen anything go wrong with the ones without the shield.

So, just crack the plastic coating off, and pull the soft iron shield off, clean the coil, and off you go again.
