    MSX 110 (2004) Overheating (Need HELP)

    Can anyone out there help me out.

    My ski runs great at 30mpg or below, but as soon as it's at WOT for a while the check engine indicator, and temp light come on, then it kicks into slow mode.

    Colant is to proper level, and flowing. Thermostat is good. Both temp sensors are brand new. Water is flowing into the exhaust port. When the temp light does come on, I took some water splashed it on the exhaust manifold to see if the engine was really hot, and the water just rolled off, did not sizzle.

    Has anyone out there seen this on their ski?

    A few years (wasn't my ski at the time) ago, it did have a blown head gasket that was fixed at a Polaris dealer but I don't know if they did a good job cleaning the oil/water from the heat exchanger. Was wondering if a dirty heat exchanger could be the trouble maker.

    Look forward to hearing anyones thoughts.

    Thanks

    Prior threads;
    2004 MSX 110 Overheating problems

    MSAX 110 Overheat Indicator keeps comming on

    Since those threads, have any additional diagnostics or changes happened?

    How hot is the engine and exhaust getting? Can you put your hand on everything for a few seconds without burning yourself?

    It is always possible that you have a bad sensor on it. Once it signals,it goes to limp mode.

    Hi Mark,

    I would be looking at the raw water flow. Check for restriction in the system. It is reasonably easy to get at the hoses and do some flushing.

    Have you checked the water injection orifice is clear in the exhaust manifold?
    Have you run the ski in shallow muddy conditions previous to your problems?

    quick fix - don't run it over 30

    Cheers
