Yep thats the norm. You can remove the pump and put a small amount of grease in there(NOT TO MUCH) refit pump it will sound really sweet for a couple of times.....

Why does the pump make such a weird noise? everytime i run it out of the water to flush it out the sound makes me cringe. sounds like im breaking something by running it out of the water.

Could be because it's a single bearing pump. Everyone I've talked to about it says the skat three bearing pump doesnt' do it. Our pumps are pretty much junk. Same thing goes for our front engine mount which allows for flexs and lets the impeller get into the wear ring.

I have the 3 bearing mod, and it makes no difference, it sounds the same.

do you think the fact there is no rubber bumper on the pump side of the shaft has anything to do with it? wondering if you put a little rubber washer or a dab of silicone if that would help. or screw things up and make it too tight.

The nose cone on the front of your prop has loosened and is rattling around your drive shaft. Remove the pump and secure the cone with red loctite or remove it altogether.

Mmmn. Do you run a stainless wear ring? Something has got to be out of alignment or loose. Any recent work done: mods? repairs?
