    2001 xp L noob help

Im going to take a look at my first PWC potential purchase. its a 2001 XPL with a blown motor. what are some things I should be looking for in terms of inspecting my purchase? the guy said everything was structurally ans mechanically sound except for the blown motor.

I always take a flashlight and look at the impeller to make sure no dings or wear. Check the wear ring around the outside of the impeller; you want a tight seal... make sure bottom of hull has gel coat and not worn down competely to fiberglass

The actual ski looks tidy but be aware that you need to allow the cost of a refurbed engine at the least and thats if you are doing the work yourself. Of course, it may just need pistons and rings but that is highly doubtful as if it didn't need much doing then the work probably would have been done. Good luck

I would check the bottom of the engine to make sure a rod didnt go through the cases... Not that uncommon. (if this happens you cant even use that motor as a core - and cases can be as much as $600 alone.) In this case 1500 would be too much. If all it needs is a top end kit..1500 would be a good deal.

Any other info on the motor?
