Thread: Cracked coil

Guys, i was changing my spark plugs after 20h when i noticed the coil on middle cylinder is swollen with a 1" crack
Do i leave it like that or do i need to replace it?
I also noticed top ceramic part is unusually blackened on all 3 plugs

You will want to replace it. Once it fails, you'll be running on 2 cylinders.

Two of mine did the same thing. Remove the plastic sleeve then remove the rusted steel shell clean the coil reinstall the plastic sleeve and tape.. Worked for me..

Am with Beerdart 110%.
Take the plastic off, remove the rusty metal shield, clean it, and off ya go.
Loads of them running like this now.

So can i remove the plastic sleeve without breaking it? it s very tight...

Nah, just crack it off, it usually is, so help it on its way.
Bend the metal sleeve out to make sure it comes off too.... and bin 'em.
