Cracked Riva Washer after 30 hours

I pulled my S/C (X-Charger with the Riva Upgrade) over the weekend to replace the bearings and found one of my 30 hour Riva Metal washers with a crack. Fortunatley it was still on the shaft. During my last check the slip was set at 12 lbs ft. The washers and gear were also heavily worn.

How often do you guys rebuild these chargers? I was thinking every 50 hours but after this maybe every 20 hours?

If you ride hard in choppy conditions you should pull the charger, inspect it and check the slip every 20 hrs. Most likely your charger was slipping causing your clutches to get very hot and that is why it cracked. Your lucky you caught it before it came apart.

I would set that charger around 14 ftlbs.

I agree with 14 ft lbs.

And like Jim mentioned if you ride in rough conditions a lot pull the charger and check slip every 20 hours or so.

What are your thoughts on the different washers out there?

Riva vs Sea Doo vs Les Cookie

Are they all equal in terms of wear and performance?

I have always found the Riva washers to be the best. Riva washers used to be coated a long time ago like the stock 07 and newer washers and Les washers. The coated washers hold heat in the washer. If you slip the washer they heat up and can fracture. You hear far more cases of stock coated washers fracturing then you hear about Riva washers.

    Cracked

I had one crack also and it just goes to show " there is a god" as it stayed together and no other problem than a slipping clutch......now if they were stock washers I would have been stripping an engine. Go the Riva washers!!!!

I know it is fun jumping waves and Im not saying that you do but for a heads up, it has caused supercharger failure for many including me. The gear got sheared and bent the whole shaft. luckily i was able to get alot of the metal pieces out of my engine.
