    Advice Needed help

A customer's 1999 1200xl Limited with 130 hours on it had a piston problem. # 3 hole seized badly. Can I resleeve # 3 and rering #1 and #2 ?? They are in very good condition. I would also be adding a new piston and ring to the # 3 hole.
I am looking for all advice. I want this ski to last for these nice people
    Thanks

I can not answer your question on sleeving. but that is some bad detonation do you know what caused it? you need to find the cause of this problem you can see the result this cylinder went lean.

You should send the cylinder off and have it renicasiled.... be sure to send a new piston as well so that they can match it to the cylinder. If the other 2 cylinders and pistons are within tolerances, lightly hone the cylinders, re ring the new pistons if you find that the old ones are not worth having, and you are on your way.

I would suggest that you use Pro-X pistons.

You still have to figure what caused the problem in the first place.....

    Found the cause

The ring positioning pin went away. this caused the ring to go South and North at the same time

Mt, you better keep looking or you are going to have a most expensive come back on you hands. The ring keeper hammered home or eroded away is caused by detonation that is caused by serious leaness. You have just found another symptom, not the problem. Check the carbie metering chamber plate on #3, it is made of cast alloy so as to mount the accelerator pump, not pressed tin as are the others. On a poorly maintained pwc that does salt work, the breather hole corrodes over, and the jetting goes real lean as the atmospheric pressure can't assist the needle and seat to "pop off". REXA.

I had a detonation caused by a stupid mistake on my part. I put a primer kit in and cut the tee post of the fuel filter the tee had a small pass through diameter and it ended up starving fuel to the last carb in the rack and caused that cylinder to lean out it looks exactly like yours. I was fortunate enough to be close to groupK and they helped me diagnose the problem and got my cylinders bored and back to me in 2 days this was from a 99GP

Because only #3 went, and there has been no salt work, I think it is time to pull and strip the carbies. You are looking for blocked passage as above, blocked inlet filters, corrosion insde metering chamber. Let us know. REXA.
